SPBGMA 2013 Midwest Award Show and Convention

Southern Raised performs for a lively crowd Friday night at the SPBGMA Convention

Our day began early, since as you can imagine, there is much packing and loading to be done when we hit the road!!!  Sarah, Emily and I rose extra early so as to get our workout program in before we hit the road.  Finally, after much loading and loading and loading…….:) we were on our way!  We made it to Jeff City a few hours before we were to go on stage  at the SPBGMA Midwest Awards Show and Convention.  We went on around 7:30 and “let her fly!”:)  We had such an awesome time and the crowd was so alive!!!  The room was filled with about 600-700 people, alive and ready for a night of bluegrass!!!………………………………………………

Packed and Lively House!!!

Southern Raised by the waterfall fountain in the lobby at the Plaza Hotel in Jeff City

The hotel this is hosted in is very beautiful with a large waterfall fountain in the lobby!  After our set we were very kindly treated to dinner by our dear friend Mr. Don Heston.  We enjoyed a time of visiting together over a delicious meal in the gorgeous restaurant adjacent to the lobby.  Just for the record…the black bean burger is awesome!:)

Here is a larger image with a better view of the fountain!!:)

It was really wonderful to see many folks from previous shows that we have played in the Midwest, always love to visit and catch up with our friends!  In the above pic of the waterfall fountain, I do not believe you can see it, but there are elevators on either side that are encased in glass and take you up the 9 stories with a constant view of the lobby below.  This was a fun little trip!  It feels a lot faster than it looks when someone else is on it!!!:) haha  This is what singers do for entertainment….ride the elevator!!!…OK, I am joking!!!:) lol ……….

Southern Raised and Rhonda Vincent

……………Rhonda Vincent and the Rage performed Friday as well.  It was great to see her again, as always.  We had the chance to visit a little and snapped a Kodak moment:)  As we posed for this pic someone pointed out that Rhonda and us seemed to have coordinated outfits for the evening!…..Rhonda took a look and concurred that we did indeed match!

Sarah and the Dr. who took care of her at Sally Mt Bluegrass Festival 2012 when she nearly passed out from the heat

……………..I thought it was only appropriate to post the above pic of Sarah and this kind doctor!:)  He took such good care of Sarah when she had her bad scare with a near heat stroke at Rhonda Vincent’s Festival last July.

Nonny and Pappy were so sweet, we were unable to stay over for the awards ceremony the following night, since we were due in Alabama by Sunday morning!  The following evening they called and told us that I had been blessed and honored to have won “2013 Bass Performer of the Year!!”  I was so shocked and grateful!!!  Thank you to the Lord and all those kind friends and fans who made this dream possible!!!  Thank you to Nonny and Pappy for accepting the award for me!!! Y’all are awesome, I love y’all!!!………………………..

Southern Raised with Nonny and Pappy

…………..We headed out again on Saturday morning, with a forecast looming overhead that was predicting snow, we were barely ahead of this front and grateful to have stayed ahead of it!……….So here we went!….Headed out of 20 degree temps in the Midwest for the sunny south and 80’s!!!  Keep on eye out for more from our tour south!!!!:)………………..Lindsay……………………….

Thank you again to all our awesome bluegrass friends and fans for helping kick our year off with such a great time!!!
