Happy New Year!!!

Happy New Year from Southern Raised!!!

I truly cannot believe that 2012 is already a thing of the past, history, wonderful old memories, moments and blessings from God’s hand.  As we walk through the doorway of a brand new year and we take in all its wonder and excitement of things to come, may we look to The One who has kindly bestowed the gift of life and time upon us.  Each of us individually had unique blessings and trials that visited us in 2012, 2013 will be no exception.  God has wonderful things in store, I have no doubt, but maybe some of you walk into this new year still carrying a burden or trial on your back from 2012.  Each of us have these trials and burdens, things we fight or must endure.  I read some thoughts for the great late Pastor Adrian Rogers on the start of a new year…..

…….”On this New Year’s Eve, you may be wondering what is going to happen. Years ago, some men were on a leaky old ship in the middle of a rough and stormy sea. One of them asked the captain, “Are we safe?” He said, “Well, the boilers are weak and may explode at any moment. The ship is taking on water. To be very honest with you, we may go up, or we may go down, but at any rate, we are going on.”
And that’s the way we are as we face this new year. Jesus may come; we may go up. We may die, and go down and then up, but at any rate, we are going on.”

“Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: His going forth is prepared as the morning; and He shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.” Hosea 6:3

I thought that was very well said……whether we are fearful or burdened by what is or is to come, we are moving on with Jesus and for Jesus!!!  Is that not a wonderful thought!!!  The One that made this new year and fashioned it from before time ever was is the same One that will walk with you through every month, day, hour and second!!!!  He already knows what the next minute holds.

Walking into 2013!!!

“If you are going to face this year with steadfast resolve, you must find your contentment, your companionship, and your confidence in Christ. And then you’ll find your comfort in Christ. Then you may boldly say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear what man shall do unto me.”

I’m not trying to tell you life’s going to be all honey and no bees. No, the Christians in the book of Hebrews faced heartaches and trials. They had opposition from family, friends and foes alike. They faced mockery and brutality. Yet they could boldly say, “The Lord is my helper.”

Friend, this coming year may be difficult for you. But I am telling you that you can stand upon the promises of the Word of God.”- Pastor Adrian Rogers

I liked that phrase from Pastor Rogers……” all honey and no bees”…..How true!  God gives us such sweet treasures, treats and blessings from His kind hand, but there are hard things in this mortal life that will be the “bees” whose sting will bring pain, but don’t forget the “honey” and the One who is your helper and strength!!!

Let us take our Father’s hand and walk hand in hand with Him through 2013……..don’t take off on your own, way ahead of Him, running down your own path.  I desire to walk together with Him, go where He bids and listen to His still small voice when He speaks.  What a blessed year that would be!!!
